Rhodes University Partnership

ElimiNOX is excited to report on our carbon emissions reduction partnership with Rhodes University in South Africa.

ElimiNOX and Rhodes University have signed a ground-breaking agreement that aims to ultimately reduce carbon emissions. We aim to set up an R300 million fund for carbon offset tax-free allowances to big industry players.

This initiative aligns with the Carbon Tax Act of 2019, which implements the polluter-pays-principle for large emitters and offers financial incentives for adopting cleaner technologies.

Rhodes University, which houses Africa's only Chair of Environmental Education and is a United Nations Centre of Expertise in Education for Sustainable Development and Environmental Learning Research Centre, will work with ElimiNOX to assess carbon-reducing projects for investment purposes. The fund will enable investors to claim tax allowances while providing educational and practical support to emitters.

Furthermore, as part of the agreement, Rhodes University will adopt ElimiNOX ECO environmental fuel conditioner in its own fleet of vehicles and generators, contributing to a reduction in its carbon footprint. This partnership showcases the power of collaboration between academia and industry to tackle environmental challenges and promote sustainable practices.

Second Environment Award for ElimiNOX

In a presentation that took place at the UK Ports Trade Association’s annual sustainability awards event in the London Docklands on 19th January, ElimiNox was awarded its second industry award – the UK Ports Greentech Environmental Award 2023.

Proudly announcing the Greentech company’s success, Gwyn Lewis, ElimiNox MD, commented: “We are very happy to receive this award from UK Ports as we continue to assist its members on the pathway of decarbonisation. Enabling them to reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions from vessels, dockside plant, and machinery, makes the Ports and coastal waters safer, healthier environments for personnel and the general public.”

“The UK Ports award follows our UKIFDA Innovation Award 2022 which demonstrates our continued commitment to the liquid fuels industry in providing a unique biodegradable product that reduces dangerous emissions from all carbon-based fuels including HVO”.

ElimiNOX Eco™ Review – Plant Equipment

We have now been using ElimiNOX Eco™ fuel conditioner for approximately two years now. We have found a fuel saving on average of 40%.

“It is particularly more noticeable on low RPM work; for example, fencing, hedge trimming, fertiliser spreading and spraying. However, when road hauling heavy loads at top speed, it was difficult to gauge at first as the machine will use an inconsistent amount of fuel depending on the terrain of the route and different loads of weight. Also in these more modern tractors, the engine boosting technology has a big effect on fuel consumption opposed to older machines without this technology.

We have also found that the engine note is much smoother and in other machines of our business without exhaust re-circulation and ad blue the machines emissions are far less. Fuel filters are far cleaner on service intervals, water content within the fuel is now no more and diesel bug has now been eliminated.

More power, better acceleration and torque have also been found in all machines and vehicles.

“Fuel saving will be continued and monitored on a regular basis. With ever rising fuel prices, the cost of ElimiNOX Eco™ fuel conditioner is invaluable. By saving money on fuel, this allows us as a business to invest in new machinery and keep up to date with technology etc.

We run the fuel conditioner in all our machines from John Deere 6115R, JCB and Hitachi excavators, through to our fleet of Citroen Berlingo vans and various other small machines and vehicles.

Not only from a cost perspective, ElimiNOX Eco™ is also helping to reduce our carbon footprint which is a big thing in today’s times. Certain contracts do specify machinery to comply with emissions ratings, and ElimiNOX Eco™ helps us comply with these statistics.

ElimiNOX Eco™ - The Unique Green Solution for Future Fuels

There are many fuel additives and conditioners on the market, what makes ElimiNOX Eco™ different?

Traditionally, fuel additives are often made from waste refinery products like xylene and naphthalene; these products are not only fossil fuels themselves, they’re also not designed to reduce emissions, rather boost how fuel is combusted. These products do not provide a solution for decarbonisation nor help to reduce the impact that fossil fuels have on the environment.

Another type of fuel additive are water-in-diesel emulsions (WiDEs). While WiDEs had once been hailed as the solution to the emissions problem, the product was unstable, often separating, which resulted in engine and vehicle manufacturers objecting and subsequently voiding warranties if WiDE products were used in their vehicles.

As well as needing a product that could reduce emissions and improve fuel efficiency, fuel additives and conditioners needed to be both suitable and safe for use in engines. ElimiNOX Eco™ meets both these criteria.

Unlike other fuel conditioners on the market, ElimiNOX Eco™ is made from ingredients that are natural, sustainable, and biodegradable. ElimiNOX Eco™ offers an immediate step towards net zero by reducing harmful NOx, Sox, CO and CO2 emissions. In addition, ElimiNOX Eco™ increases fuel lubricity by 31% which reduces engine wear, lowers exhaust temperatures, reduces contamination of engine fuel, increases the preservation of engine and turbo life, and significantly reduces Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system loads.

As well as effectively reducing emissions, ElimiNOX Eco™ is verified by Bureau Veritas UK to be compatible with all diesel and petrol fuels with EN590, EN228, EN16709 & ASTM D975 certification and will not alter, the specification of any of these fuel types when added; using ElimiNOX Eco™ will not void your engine or vehicle warranty.

What are the benefits for car owners?

With fuel costs rising almost every week, it’s no wonder people are searching for a way to reduce costs. ElimiNOX Eco™ offers drivers up to a 10% saving on fuel costs, for every 2p you spend on ElimiNOX Eco™, you can save 10p on diesel. And with a dosing of 1:2000 mix ratio, your bottle of ElimiNOX Eco™ will last a long time. ElimiNOX Eco™ is compatible with distillate fuels including Gasoline, regular Diesel, Marine Diesel Oil (MDO), Marine Gas Oil (MGO), Biofuels including Hydrotreated Vegetable Oils (HVO) and Kerosene.

The Cost of Fuel : Save up to 8-10% per Litre

The cost of fuel has soared in recent weeks reaching record highs and increasing by as much as 64.7 pence per litre in the last 12 months alone. Currently the average pump price across the UK is 190.93p/litre for unleaded petrol and 198.93p/litre for diesel with the price continuing to increase each week. Meaning that an average family car can now cost over £100 to fill, there are some ways in which you can make your fuel last longer, using ElimiNOX Eco fuel conditioner for instance can increase your fuel efficiency by 8-10%!

But, Why Are Fuel Prices Increasing?

Simply put, the price of crude oil, which is used to make petrol and diesel, has gone up. With suppliers struggling to keep up with demand the fuel prices are continuing to increase. This is in part due to the war in Ukraine as sanctions are being introduced against Russian exports. Russia being one of the world’s largest oil exporters, the US has already announced a complete ban on Russian oil imports and the UK plans to phase Russian oil out by the end of 2022.

When Will Fuel Prices Go Down?

RAC fuel spokesperson Simon Williams has said in recent weeks that  “...looking at the wholesale cost of petrol, which has settled due the oil price falling, petrol pump prices really should not continue to rise, if anything they ought to begin reducing. Sadly though, diesel looks destined to head rapidly towards an average of £2 a litre which would make a full tank £110”. The UK government in an attempt to combat the fuel price increase has cut fuel duty on petrol and diesel by 5p per litre for the year however this has now been cancelled out because of the jump in price just since March. It is hoped that the government who are currently undergoing a review of the fuel market will reduce this further, considering the extent of the rises seen in both fuels and living costs. However, if they do not intervene then many across the country will have to rethink their spending habits and look at where they can cut costs, for instance attempting to make your fuel last longer meaning less stops at the petrol stations.

So, How Can I Make My Fuel Go Further?

ElimiNOX Eco can help you reduce your fuel consumption and increase your fuel efficiency by 8-10%, which could save you £1.50/L of fuel and it is even compatible with ALL forms of diesel and petrol engines! This pre-combustion fuel conditioner creates a more efficient burn on the ignition which provides additional lubricity and reduces fuel consumption.
